Cheshire and Warrington is home to some of the largest and most diverse cluster of conference venues in the north west. From ancient racecourses to historic manor houses, and plenty in between.
This month we explore some of our large venues within the county, starting with…
Located in up-market Knutsford to the east of Cheshire, The Mere is nestled in tranquil countryside, boasting an 18-hole championship golf course, and award-winning spa, as well as six grand event spaces.
The flexible event suites at The Mere all come with state-of-the-art facilities such as AV equipment, blackout option, secure wi-fi, air conditioning, and some suites also have private entrances, views and a veranda overlooking the lake plus a fully stocked bar. The Mere can host up to 550 delegates, and has 81 luxurious guest bedrooms and suites, should you wish to extend your stay.
Parking on-site is free, and the M6 and M56 are close by, providing excellent travel links to the north west. Manchester Airport is a ten minute drive, connecting The Mere to the rest of the world!
As you make your way up the tree-lined driveway, Tatton Park, one of the UK’s most complete historic estates, really does have the ‘wow factor’. Surrounded by 50 acres of mature parkland, Tatton Park’s meeting and conferencing facilities are probably one of the most fascinating and impressive in Cheshire. The beautiful and unique Tennant’s Hall, which is steeped in history and was previously Lord Egerton’s private museum, is the largest of all the meeting spaces at Tatton, with a capacity of 400. Smaller, but equally grand spaces are available within the Mansion, including Lord Egerton’s former apartment, which is now a stunning dining, meeting and conference space, with magnificent views across the parkland and catering for up to 24 delegates boardroom style, 40 for dining or 80 for a drinks reception. The Boardroom is a new addition to the Tatton suite of spaces, and provides a stylish space for meetings up to 20 delegates, again within the Mansion itself. Although Tatton Park has no on-site accommodation, The Mere Hotel is a couple of miles away and provides luxury surroundings and guest bedrooms and suites after a busy day of meetings.
There is parking in abundance and Manchester Airport is just a ten minute drive. Tatton Park is easily accessed by car from the nearby M6 and M56 motorways.
In the heart of historic Chester and with the River Dee flowing nearby, Chester Racecourse is the largest venue in the county, catering for up to 2,000 delegates across 35 separate facilities. The Pavilion Suite is the largest of all the event spaces at Chester Racecourse, overlooking the Parade Ring with a maximum capacity of 700 with a further 1300sqm of multi-purpose space within the Festival Village.
The team at Chester Racecourse regularly host seminars, meetings, conferences and large exhibitions, and their in-house, award-winning caterers ‘Horseradish’ are on hand to create interesting and exciting menus to suit your event.
Chester Racecourse is easily accessible with excellent transport links to the north west and London only a two hour train journey. Parking is easy and free, with 600 dedicated spaces for Racecourse clients and the city centre is a couple of minutes walk if you want to see more of Chester. If you need accommodation, next door you’ll find 97 en-suite bedrooms at the Holiday Inn Express, less than a minute’s walk – perfect!
Located south of Chester is Cheshire’s country estate, Carden Park, the largest independent hotel in the north west, nestled in 1000 acres of rolling countryside. With two 18-hole championship golf courses, a brand new state-of-the-art £10million luxury spa and a host of corporate team-building activities to choose from, Carden Park has it all when it comes to idyllic meeting and conference venues. There are 198 luxury bedrooms and suites at Carden, many with picturesque views over the surrounding Cheshire landscape.
Whether you need a meeting space for 2-400 delegates, there are 18 flexible meeting spaces at Carden, as well as an award-winning culinary team and expert on-site AV and event production team on hand to ensure your meeting, conference or event runs as smoothly as possible. Quirky extra’s such as a 3000 acre vineyard producing its own ‘Carden Gold’ sparkling wine, an FA standard football pitch plus meeting room features such as interchangeable mood lighting to match your brand, and 6000 fibre optic starlights sets Carden apart.
There’s plenty of parking on-site and motorway connectivity is a ten minute drive north, along with railway stations and Manchester Airport just half an hours drive.
